Welcome, one and all, to the first Keywords of the 2021-22 academic year. We are so glad that after 16 months of writing to you from our home office, we are finally able to come to you from our actual office. That’s right – we’re back baby!
Being back in person is not the only change you’ll see around the law library. As stated in the welcome message from our Associate Dean of Library Services, aka “the Bob Ross of the library”, we are pleased to offer our full suite of upgraded in-person services. What are they? So glad you asked!
Guess Who’s Back?
Do you feel seen? Well, you should! Your favorite law library staff and research librarians are back staffing the circulation desk and reference desk in the Gould Reading Room. For help with physical course reserves and general library questions, visit the circ desk during library hours or email lawcirc@cornell.edu. Looking for legal research help? Stop by the reference desk Mondays – Thursdays from 3 – 5pm or schedule a librarian consultation by emailing lawref@cornell.edu.
Seats For Everyone
Look, law student. Every seat the light touches is your study kingdom. Now that we are back at full capacity, you can choose any seat to sit in anywhere at any time. Looking for an interview or study room? You can make a reservation for one up to a week in advance. Wherever you sit, just remember to always keep your mask on, respect quiet study areas, and try not to put your feet on the furniture. This is a library, not a movie theater.
Bottles Down. Mask Up.
Speaking of not being a movie theater, no food or open beverage containers are allowed in any law library spaces. You may, of course, bring your hydro flask, eco-friendly coffee mug, or other closed drink bottles. But remember – after you sip, cover your lip. Don’t leave your mask off for more than a few moments. This is a library. Not the Wild West.
Contactless Pickup
Just like drag, picking up library books is not always a contact sport. You can check out books or pick up interlibrary loan orders at the circ desk. Or you can continue to request eligible materials via contactless pickup on the ground floor just by the elevators. Look for signs. You can’t miss it.
We will be back next week with a new edition of Keywords. In the meantime, check out the law library website for the latest updates, keep your mask on, and stop by the circ desk to say hi!
