Welcome to the 2021-22 School Year!

Welcome to the academic year 2021 – 2022! For those new to Cornell Law School, welcome to Ithaca and the Cornell University campus! I hope you enjoyed your Orientation; the Law Library staff enjoyed meeting as many of you as we could. For returning students, we hope you were able to enjoy a stimulating and restorative break.

We’re pleased to be able to offer a full suite of in-person Law Library services and spaces this year, along with a few upgrades. Read on for some highlights.

  • Individual Law Library seats are available to all without need for reservations, and Law Library study rooms are again available by reservation. Of course—as with all things these past months—please expect that we may need to make changes if circumstances or policies require.
  • We’ve also implemented a few new service changes which we think will serve you better. Delivery to the contactless pickup location on the Ground floor of the Law Library is now a continuing service. You can request books or materials through the library website catalog, from any Cornell library location or Borrow Direct, and pick them up on the on the cart just inside the library from the Ground floor elevators.
  • Law research librarians will be available at the reference desk in the Reading Room during scheduled hours—please see the librarian consultation page for more details. You can now ask for reference or research help by emailing the research law librarians at their new custom address: lawref@cornell.edu.
  • The circulation desk opposite the College Ave end of the Reading Room is also once again open for in-person service. To contact someone at the circulation desk, use lawcirc@cornell.edu. Any of our wonderful circulation desk staff can help you with Law Library space use and hours information, materials circulation services, and general Law Library questions. Reminders and QR codes are available at the circulation desk so you can quickly update your contacts.

Lastly, but definitely not the least word from us, our Keywords newsletter resumes this week. Check your inbox every Wednesday-ish for updates on library programs and resources, helpful reminders, and timely Law Library information.

Mask up, and study on!
