KEYWORDS: Law Library Weekly Newsletter

Welcome back to Keywords, the only weekly law library newsletter that keeps you in the know about the things you need to know – like how to check out books, why you should check out research guides, and what memes to check out while you’re checked out in the library. (Hint: rhymes with “this wine”.) So, if you are looking to check out some law library and legal research advice, don’t worry darlings– we’ve got you covered.

Check Out a Research Guide

Have you ever been in the Reading Room, your favorite carrel, or some other inferior study spot, ready to start tackling your legal research paper only to find yourself staring off in the distance rethinking all the life decisions that have lead you to this point? Stop thinking and get clicking…on this link to the Law Library’s research guides. These research guides cover topics from Asylum Law to Zotero (and many letters in between) to guide your legal research journey.

How to Research with a Guide

Have you ever been in the Law Library, or some other inferior library, and thought to yourself, “You know, my favorite thing about the library, like it feels like a…like a library. It feels like a real like, you know, go to the reading room, circ desk, library, that you know…the reason why you go.”? Well, we couldn’t agree with you more. We are librarians, after all. Come to the circ desk during our in-person reference hours, or email us your reference questions, and we’d be more than happy to share our love of all things library with you whilst dispensing helpful legal research tips to guide your legal research journey.

Check Out a Book

Speaking of helpful tips, the next time you find yourself surrounded by books in the Reading Room, the stacks, or some other inferior library-adjacent spot, don’t just whip out your flip phone, disposable camera, or other photo-taking gadget to memorialize the moment. Live in the moment and check out a book via the library catalog. You can either go to the circ desk for help locating your dream book on the shelf, click on “Request item” to have the book held for pickup at the circ desk, or email the circ desk with your book checkout questions.

We will be back next week with a new edition of Keywords. In the meantime, remember your favorite thing about the Law Library, and like…you know…go.
