Oh hey. It’s Keywords, the only weekly law library newsletter to guide you through the final countdown before February Break…or what would be February Break if you weren’t in law school. Before you have another crisis of conscience over your decision to come to law school, take a pause and think of all the extra peace and quiet there will be in the library when the interlopers undergrads are gone. And while we have you in this calm headspace, read on for more helpful advice that will bring you peace…
Find the Source
Chances are that you have an upcoming paper or other legal writing assignment that will require you to use small minor inconsequential things like sources or books. You could act like an undergrad and try asking some invisible intelligence trapped inside your computer. Or you could act like the budding legal scholar you are and ask one of the several visible intelligent research librarians accessible to you at the reference desk. For help finding the books and sources you need, come to the reference desk or email us at lawref@cornell.edu.
Find What is Lost
Chances are that you come to the library in search of something, whether it be a source you found for your upcoming legal writing assignment, a source of power for your laptop so you can continue writing your upcoming legal writing assignment, or that personal item that you lost track of. (To the owner of the red puffer coat that has been hanging out with us since December: are you okay?) For help finding what you’re looking for, come find us at the circ desk or email us at lawcirc@cornell.edu. You can also call us on your cell phone at 607-255-7236.
Find a Job
Ты говори́шь по-ру́сски? ¿Dominas el español? Are you fluent in legalese? If you answered “Yes” to at least 2 out of the 3 previous statements, then we have the job for you. We are looking for one or more research assistants to inventory an archive of research materials focused on the development of jury trial processes in Russia, Spain, and Venezuela. Interested? Then submit a statement of interest, resume and list of references to Jackie Magagnosc (jkm95).
We will be back next week with a new edition of Keywords. In the meantime, remember to take a break from the library from time to time. We’ll save your seat for you.
