Early Closure of the Law Library
At the beginning of the fiscal year, Cornell Law Library establishes all hours in advance and posts them on the law library website.
On dates when the law library anticipates that it is likely that the law school will close early due to a holiday, the law library may also plan to close early, if the adjusted hours are posted in advance.
In an instance where the law library has planned to close early for a holiday, but the law school does not close early after all, then the law library circulation desk will remain open. The desk will be staffed by the Access Services rotating roster. All other staff members may leave early with the approval of the law library director, or in her absence an administrative director, but may not mark their timecards as time worked.
In an instance where the law school closes early and the early closure has not been anticipated by the law library, the law library circulation desk shall remain open throughout normal, prior posted law library hours. One staff member shall remain at the library to cover the circulation desk; all other staff members shall be free to leave at the early closure time announced by the law school, with the approval of the law library director, or in her absence an administrative director, and may mark their timecards as time worked. [Note: the law school allows staff to count this as time worked.] The law library will make arrangements with the staff member who remains to compensate them for their time at the desk.
The law library circulation desk may not deviate from posted hours except to expand the number of hours it is open.
