KEYWORDS: Law Library Weekly Newsletter

Oh hey! Welcome back to Keywords, the best weekly law library newsletter. At Cornell. Full stop. A week ago, you were on Fall Break, resting your mind with a bit of leisurely reading (we jest). Now, you may be pondering the merits of a break from reality as you try to remember how to do law student things, like filling your mind with a million pages of reading. Let us help you get back into law student mode with our latest law library tips. All it takes is a little reading…

Check Us Out

Pre-Fall Break, you used to walk into the Law Library full of wonder about all the law student things you were going to learn. Since Fall Break, you may have forgotten a few of them. If you’re trying to check out a library item to remember the things you used to know, but all you can see is your ignorance alphabetized, don’t stress. Come to the circ desk. We’ll get you checked out.

Reference Aides

As a law student, you can read a million pages in 2 seconds (yes, 2 seconds) as research for your memo or seminar paper. But, now you’ve read everything so fast, you just don’t even know how to harness what you’ve read into a brilliant memo or seminar paper. Get help. Come to the ref desk. We’ll help you get your brilliant memo or seminar paper straightened out.

Study Aids

Quick question: what’s your study aid of choice? If your answer is “A negroni. Sbagliato. With prosecco in it.”, great response but not quite the one we were looking for. As it’s no longer Fall Break, reacquaint yourself with online study aids. 5 varietals, over 1000 lessons. All stunning.

Study Aids Workshop

Speaking of study aids, join us and Academic Support next Wednesday, October 26th at 4:30 in G90 for a workshop on how to navigate the magical world of study aids. We will demonstrate how to access the library’s various electronic study aids and provide guidance on what some of the major titles provide. Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide which study aids best meet your needs, but this workshop will help give you more context to make the right decision for you. No need to RSVP. Just bring yourself, your study buddy, and your laptop.

We will be back next week with a new edition of Keywords. In the meantime, remember there’s no point if you don’t understand what you’re reading. Find some understanding at the ref desk.
