Hello. Welcome to this semester’s penultimate Keywords, the weekly law library newsletter of your dreams. Days are getting longer, time is growing shorter, you’re writing day and night like you’re running out of time – must mean we’re getting close to the end of the semester. Read on for some law library tips that will keep you going non-stop.
A Resource Free and Low-Cost
Want to become a well-rounded legal researcher, able to have and to hold accurate and reliable legal information from this day forward, for richer, for poorer, in hard times and in wealth? Join us TODAY at 12:20pm in 276 MTH for a free workshop on free and low-cost legal research resources. As the ancient proverb says: Teach a law student to use a mix of subscription and free legal research resources, and they can conduct legal research for a lifetime.
A Prize of Notes and Papers
Think back to the first paper you ever wrote. It was probably back in elementary or primary school, maybe 2 – 3 pages long, and most likely included zero citations. Now think of that scholarly research paper you’ve written since May 2021. You know what that is? Growth. Celebrate that growth and submit your paper to the Cantwell Prize by May 18. Open to 2Ls, 3Ls, and LLMs.
A Tale of Swag and Surveys
Have you filled out our 2022 Law Library Student Survey? Good. Have you seen the announcement and thought, “Oh I’ll just do it later.”? Well, later is now. Help us help you. Fill out the survey, help us plan for the future, and get entered into a drawing for some Cornell goodies. We promise it’s far easier than, say, writing a scholarly research paper.
A Court of Pups and Students
Are you tired? Rundown? Listless? Do you poop out while writing day and night like you’re running out of time on your scholarly research paper? The answer to all your problems is pet therapy. Pet therapy contains dogs, puppies, pets, and therapy. All you have to do is come to the Courtyard next Wednesday, May 4, at noon. It’s so fun too!
A Time of Tests and Access
One of the best perks of being a Cornell law student? Naturally, it’s exclusive access to the Law Library during exams. From May 3 – 13, we will be making sure that you are surrounded only by students who understand the agony ecstasy of being a Cornell law student. Help us help you: Keep the Law School sticker on your Cornell ID readily visible to ensure minimal disruption to your studies.
We will be back next week with the last edition of Keywords for the semester. In the meantime, submit your paper for the Cantwell Prize, fill out our survey, de-stress with puppies, and email us at lawcirc@cornell.edu.
